Space We aim to design architecture which feels alive, with qualities of space, atmosphere and ambience being at the core of design thinking, as much as the built fabric. We are inspired by the qualities of indoor-outdoor space in tropical Asian resorts, which often create a seamless and harmonious flow of space from interior spaces, to verandahs, to gardens, with the strong presence of nature - sunlight, breeze, plants, water, and connections to the landscape beyond. Sustainability Energy efficiency, passive solar heating, sun-shading, daylighting design, and natural ventilation are carefully considered. We aim to make sustainable material choices and specify non-toxic paints and finishes where possible, making buildings as healthy as possible for users and the environment. Views and Vistas
We aim to design buildings which have carefully considered connections from interior space to the outside, and landscape beyond, through controlled views, vistas and pathways. This is both to enrich the experience of being inside, and help us feel connected to the greater landscape in a meaningful way. Respond to client needs Above all we aim to design thoughtful architecture which responds carefully to each client's needs, lifestyle, and culture. Design process After developing a project brief, which involves thoroughly understanding a client's needs and aspirations, we undertake site analysis, feasibility studies, and review of relevant codes. Sketch design is then most often started in freehand pencil to explore ideas and options. We use pencil on the drawing board in the early stages of design, and then later 3D CAD for further development of the design. We often work with engineers, cost consultants and builders at various stages of the design process, from sketch design through to detailed working drawings. Services Jose can come to you for an initial meeting, giving you some feedback on your ideas and site, and explain our design process. Our detailed services are outlined in a written fee proposal. Fees are established depending on each client's needs. Full or partial architectural services are available. Services include feasibility studies, concept design, preparing development and building applications, construction documentation, written specifications, coordinating specialist consultants, tendering and negotiating contracts with builders, contract administration, 3D computer modelling and rendering.
