Mullumbimby Affordable Housing
This two bedroom granny flat was built under the NSW granny flat legislation which allows a second dwelling in the backyard. Solid marine plywood shutters open up to reveal good views from the first floor. Energy efficient lighting and non-toxic paints and finishes were used in the interior. The granny flat is elevated above the flood plain, and a simple concrete slab is provided at ground level, which provides a shaded and weather-protected area for various activities. This extends the usable space, and provides a connection to the garden.
